Vilner cured the boredom of Smart Fortwo Brabus Cabrio’s interior. With a lot of carbon fiber
It mаy be the smallest car ever overhauled by Vilner, but actually this is one of the most extensive projects done by the art studio. The interior is completely different compared to the cockpit already “tuned” by Brabus, which had a lot of cheep-looking plastics, despite the huge original asking price of the car.
Some previous Vilner Mercedes G-Class interiors didn’t have such abundance of carbon fiber as this little car. It’s arguably the best and more thoroughly tuned Smart Fortwo ever made. The non carbon fiber, leather or Alcantara parts are literally no more than a few square centimeters.
The wheel is a piece of art: perfect blend of design, finish and ergonomics. Perforated fine leather around 3 and 9 sectors, green leather accents, Alcantara wrapped center section and perfectly executed carbon fiber piece that covers the spokes. The weave is orientated at 45 degrees as it is everywhere else in the cockpit – a kind of pedantic attitude that can be found in Horacio Pagani’s creations. The bezel of the infotainment screen, the console around the gear shift, the glove box trim piece, the inserts of the door panels and even the door handles and the sides of the dashboard are all made from carbon fiber composite. Just look at the door pockets – they speak for themselves in terms of quality and execution.
The cheap plastics and the boring colors of the original car? They’re now history. A-pillars and soft top headliner are made in white Alcantara for even more Cabrio effect and the seats are great both on feel and look. There you can see black leather/Alcantara combination, green inserts and stitching and also the “B” logo embroidered on the headrests. It’s done by Vilner as a sign of respect and accompanied by “Design by Vilner“.
Brabus made the instrument cluster’s faces in grey but that color is not welcome in a project like this. Now the speedo, the rev counter and the clock are white with green LED back-lights and bezels. “Design by Vilner“ can also be read from the face of the speed counter. Green is also the color selected for the sun visors and floor mat edges – a handsome final touches for that impressive Smart Fortwo Brabus Cabrio.
But that’s not the end – the car was almost completely disassembled in the process in order the project to be completed as precise as possible. Outside there is a White Pearl paint with 3D graphics on green background which underlines the C-shaped structural elements on the car’s sides. The Monoblock VII are left but Vilner gave them a green rings, the front emblem and grill are painted in Gloss Black as well as the rear diffuser. Not so visible at first glance are the carbon fiber aero tweaks on the rear wheel arches – they may be discreet but the finish there is also exceptional
One of the most extensive projects can’t go without a proper sports bag in the same style: Carbon Fiber Leather, Alcantara and shoulder strap made from the same belt used for the belts inside. Smart Fortwo Brabus Cabrio by Vilner – compact car, a massive project.
