306.4 KM/H! HAMANN BUILDS THE FASTEST M4
In the comparative test of trade journal AUTOBILD Sportscars, Hamann Motorsport came off with convincing performance: on the High-Speed Oval in Papenburg, the M4 Coupé of the Swabian car refiner reached a speed of 306.4 km/h. Thus, the optimised M4 was the fastest BMW on the track. All test results can be read in the current issue no. 11 of AUTOBILD Sportscars.
The turbocharged six-cylinder engine of the M4 is the perfect basis for the high-performance vehicles of our power pros. Thanks to an additional control unit we converted the standard M4’s 317 kW (431 hp) into impressive 380 kW (517 hp) at 700 Nm – 150 Nm more than with the standard version. Thus, the Hamann Coupé already broke the 250-km/h barrier 1 000 metres after the start. After a further 1 000 metres, the speedometer showed 290 km/h. And then the grand finale after 3 000 metres: 306.4 km/h!
To safely master this performance, the car refiner lowered the chassis and installed sport anti-roll bars for the M suspension. The overall concept also includes the aerodynamics kit comprising a carbon-fibre spoiler lip, a striking GT rear wing and a diffusor with four carbon-fibre winglets. Equipped with Hamann’s 20-inch “Anniversary” wheel rims and high-performance tyres from Continental approved for up to 340 km/h, the M4 by Hamann went into the competition with a powerful wheel/tyre combination.
The test centre in Papenburg ranks among the world’s largest, producer-independent car testing grounds. The ultimate highlight on the 800-hectare site: a 12.3-kilometre oval track with two steep curves. The AUTOBILD Sportscars test was supported and documented by engineers of TÜV Rheinland. The professionals of Racelogic used a VBOX 3i GPS data logger for the measurements.
